Track Watch 2014 – Painter Street

12 Oct

Its been quiet on the sightings front lately, thankfully our eagle eyed follower Raj Kataria spotted this one recently.

Behind the tarmac - there's history to be found!

Painter Street was not on the usual service route for trams but a short line ran from Belgrave Road to the Lero Power Station which provided electricity for the entire network and some businesses alongside the tramway too.

110 years in the ground!
Is it me or can you faintly see the right hand rail through the road surface too?

Many thanks to Raj Kataria for bringing this one to our attention.
